Default What a Friday Night!!!!

Thursday before last the wife was sitting in her minivan in front of the kids school, the bell rang, she put her hand on the door and was just getting ready to get out. All of a sudden there was a huge grinding noise and the drivers side mirror was gone. She was side swiped in front of an elementary school by some lady doing 45mph while talking on the phone. Wife was ok, just a little shaken.

Yesterday afternoon I get back into town from work and meet the wife at the rental car shop to drop off her rental she has been using while the van was being fixed. We then drove over to the body shop to pick up her van, finally. She dropped me off and her and the two kids left so she could drop them off for a big weekend at Grandmas til Sunday. Finally the wife and I were going to get some time to hang out and go riding on the scoot. Been planning this for a month. I got the papers in order and was walking out of the body shop when my phone rang. All I could hear was my kids blood curdling screams in the back ground and my wife yelling "I'm down the street by McDonalds......HURRRY!" My heart sunk.....

I went down the five blocks to where she was. My god I was shaking. Once I parked, I ran across the lot to find them next to my truck. Everyone was ok, short of some minor bumps and bruises. Turns out she was making a left turn and two kids blew the red light going 70+ mph the cop estimated. Kid never even attempted to slow down. Thank god they were in my truck and not the HHR rental, or her van for that matter. With my truck being a new Chevy full size 4x4 with a lift, the entire impact from the other car was absorbed directly into my frame just in front of the passenger side rear tire. That truck is done.

Now for the best part. Immediately after impact, the one kid pulled his head out of the windshield and both him and the driver got out and ran!!! Hopped the fence and were gone. Cops went through the car, found the drivers wallet, and his cell phone. What a dummy!! The cop called last night and said they caught both of them and they were in jail. He also informed me the kid didnt have insurance, I wasn't surprised. So with that all said, who would have ever guessed that I would be seeing the same guy at the body shop an hour later watching a different vehicle of mine being dumped off a tow truck.

Looks like me and my scoot are going to be spending some quality time together until the insurance figures out what to do with my truck. I just hope the weather holds out cuz its getting cold up here in WI.

Wow! What a Friday indeed....Where are you at in WI? I'm up in Appleton. Judging by the story (Kids hitting and running) I'm guessing Milwaukee area. I'm just glad everyone is ok!

Glad the family is all right. Sounds like the misses has one heck of a guardian angel keeping watch over her. Glad it all worked out, cars can be replaced, family can't.

Thank God your family is OK. That's all that matters. The truck can be replaced although you are going to take a hit since the young sh!thead that hit it has no insurance. You've still got your wife and kids whole and healthy so in spite of everything, consider youselves lucky. The young bucks that blew the light are proof positive that the world has no shortage of morons.
