Default help changing out cams

I am gathering up all the parts and tools needed to install SE255 cams(07 Ultra). I have the cams, Beatty tool, cam locking tool. Waiting on pushrods, bearings, gaskets and new PCV map from FuelMoto to arive. I stoped by local dealer (Dothan, AL HD) today to pickup exhaust gasket and a cam shims. Beleive it or not they did not have any shims in stock (Kit or individual). Sorta makes me wounder if they use them on their customer bikes.
Any way my question is do I have to drain the oil before I start? If not I will ride a couple hundred miles to wash out any contaminates after the install and then change.

Nope, don't have to. You will have some oil that comes out of the cam chest so put a pan underneath and form some aluminum foil or something for it to drain over you frame and clutch cable.
