Default Price for cam install

Guys, I want to get a list of everything that's needed for the installation of cams and if possible, the prices.

I have a 2012 SG. I'm going to have my indy shop install the Andrews 57h cam.

My goal is to compare the cost of me providing the parts vs. my indy shop providing the parts.

When I go to the fuel moto website for example, they sell a cam install kit for $59.95. So, other than the actual cams, what else is necessary?

Thanks much!

New pushrods (adjustable or perfect fit). The cam install kit should include all gaskets and the Timken bearing.

Talk with Gary from Andrews cams, I used the 57H in my CVO 110" and was told I did not need to change the push rods, the stock work fine with this cam. Not sure if the base circle on your cams are the same as the stock SE255 cams. After the cam change, I also added the rock out kit, motor is quiet and runs well so far. Winter/snow is upon us now.

This might help you get an idea of what's all involved.

Consider Zipper Tensioners and a Baisley spring. The spring can be had for about $15 and will increase the oil pressure.

Default You asked fora price?

The kit should come with gaskets. Make sure your builder checks the bearing as it will probably have wear. Mine S&S 551 cam kit, bearings, labor and dyno tune afterwards was about $1500. But I also added new exhaust tubes and catless header.
Glad I did as the the "fun factor" for riding now is much, much better.

Those tank and bag accents really set her off. Nice touch.

A lot of indies do not like you to order parts and then take them to them and ask them to put them on for you.
They say, would you bring your own bacon and eggs to a restaurant and ask the cook to cook them for you?

In other words they want to make a little piece on the parts as well or if they don't they might charge you a bit more for the install, which w/out a tune would be around a $grand, parts included.

Agreed! Either let him furnish the parts or do the entire job yourself.

Your Indy needs to make a little money on parts. Most can't stay in business on labor alone.

Also, if he supplies the parts and there are problems with your bike after the job has been completed, it's on him, not you. Otherwise, it's easy to point the finger at "your" parts.

Figure out what components you want to use and let your Indy give you a turnkey price for Labor & Materials.
