I prefer Para Ordinance LDA for carry. I also don't care how safe you think your 1911 is a bike can shake the crap out of it and I would not trust it locked and loaded. I agree the safeties work well on a 1911 but they weren't designed to ride under those conditions. A lost life isn't worth the convience of a quik holster in a saddle bag. My LDA is never carried with a round in the chamber on the bike......how long does it take to work the action.....a person normally knows when they are in area of potential trouble. I like the fanny pack also.

The 1911 is a great choice, as safe as any weapon out there. Maybe safer. As for the fannie pack idea, I like having the gun close at hand but remember this... just about everey law enforcement type out there knows about it. So , while I would rather carrie my weapon at all times and have it handy I would rather that not every LEO knows I have it on me.

I personally prefer it mounted on my body in one of these... But it's always better to have a gun and not need it than to need one and not have it, so whatever works in that respect. Nice choice in sidearm, BTW!

if mine isnt on my hip, its in the safe.

what if:
- you get into an accident and the gun is dislodged?
- your bike is stolen?

a coworker was involved in an off-duty auto accident. he was on his way home from work, in uniform with his duty belt on the passenger seat. he was CREAMED by a drunk driver... the paramedics found his duty gun WAYYYY down the street, outside of his truck. it WAS in his duty holster- which is very secure.

also- if you have that set up in order to put it somewhere in the event an establishment doesnt allow guns inside.... its almost inevitable that SOMEONE will see you place the gun there = theft.

I'm a decent shot with my Beretta duty weapon, but this is my favorite gun. I can hit anything with it! And yes, I have a holster for it on my bike!
