Just installed PC III on my RKC. Bike is running good but, it starts just a little slower than before. I really enjoyed that instant start that it had before. Has this happened to anyone else? I need to put more miles on it before a dino, maybe it will get better then.
Unfortunately it's a common condition....not really a problem.....something about the PCIII letting the motor spin a few times before starting....lots of talk about this several months ago.....no harm done, just a perception of hard starting
I read a post the other day about a dyno tuner who hits the starter button immediately after turning on the ignition without waiting for the injectors to prime. He said there is no delay this way, and the bike would crank up as quickly as before installation of the PCIII. I have no idea if this does any damage or even if it's true.

Do this and it will start right away, seems that the voltage drops somewhere in the ecm after the pump is primned, at least on some bikes.
This is happening on my '07 Ultra and here's my findings. On the newer fuel injected bikes you would normally wait for the engine light to go out b4 you start the bike. When the light goes out the bike has done it's diagnostics and the injectors are ready to go. What is also happening is a relay kicks in that cuts power for several sub systems along with the PC. The push of the starter switch restores power to the sub systems along with the PC. The PC needs a few seconds to do it's thing when power is restored (pushing the starter button) causing the starting delay.
I have proven this simply by installing my PCIII and observing the lean/rich LED's on the unit. I turn the ignition switch on, the LED's blink back and forth, the relay kicks in along with the engine light going out and the LEDS go out on the PC. I hit the starter button the PC comes back to life and once the LED's stop flashing it starts up.
This will also cause an issue if you are trying to communicate with the PC without the 9 volt battery while it is on the bike. All comm will be lost after the engine light goes out.
