Do yourself a favor and go with the Mustang brand. It will literally take you 2-3 minutes to install. It is easily adjustable while you ride. Shop around and you can buy the Mustang for less than the H-D brand.

Search the forum and you will see numerous threads on having to heat, bend, and shim the H-D back rest mount. The Mustang is a true bolt on. It will work with a stock H-D seat or a Mustang.

HD changed the desgin of the mount and pad in 2009. I've had both and the new version is much improved.

I have the adjustable one and love it. I wouldn't mind the Mustang either though.

Read several posts and finally decided on the Adjustable... glad I did. Buy once and don't regret! I use the adjustment more than i thought I would. Looking forward to the trip from SC to NY this March - April whenever ROC weather improves! 42 days til spring!

I have the standard HD back rest and find it to be suitable, so far. The adjustable does sound nice for those long rides though when it would be nice to have several different positions to change to.

I have the HD non adjustable. The same as many others....I too had to heat and bend the rods back some. I should have gotten the adjustable one right at the start.

I'm on HD non-adjustable. Its ok. I would have lost the mid-frame air deflectors to go adjustable.

It folds forward for your passenger. It moves up and town and requires moving the mount for forward / back.

It might be used more with the new motor. You can get the passenger grips to fit with it, you just lose some adjustability...
