I read a thread on here about backrests when I was considering buying one. At the time, most comments said the adjustable one wasn't worth any more than the non adjustable one. Most said that once it was where they wanted it, they never moved it again.

I took that advice and now have the non adjustable HD backrest. I had to move the mounting bracket once and adjust the screw in the pad twice to get it where I wanted it, but am very happy with it now and see no need to adjust it anymore.

I never have tried it with my sundowner seat. I prefer the stock seat and backrest when I am solo. When the wife is going, the backrest comes off and the sundowner seat goes on. We don't ride long or hard enough for me to need a backrest when she is with me and it doesn't seem worth the extra hassle. If I do need a backrest while she is with me, she rolls her jacket up and puts it between us.
