I have the non adjustable and it works great for me. It does adjust forward and back up and down and some amount of angle. But not on the fly like the other one. I don't mind it pushing me forward. Must be because I like to sit up straight or because I'm not that tall. But any back rest is a huge improvement. I would say it easily doubles the distance I can ride in a day.
I just installed the HD non-adjustable rest and am looking forward to riding this season. Just sitting in the seat I can tell this is going to be awesome and much more comfortable.
Have an HD non-adjustable, have never had to adjust it, I looked at the adjustable and the parts manager at my dealer recommended against it. Works fine for me.
I use The non-adjustable one....and it is fully adjustable (up, down, forward, back) just not on the fly.
I didn't see the point of the "adjustable" one...I figured once I got it tuned in, I wouldn't adjust it anymore.
I just carried and Allen wrench with me initially until I got it where I wanted it, no more needed adjustments.
And yes, it spoils you...
I can't get my non-adjustable to fit right with my Sundowner seat. Like others have said it pushes me too far forward, and if I move the bracket all the way back the backrest stretches the opening on the seat and looks like it's going to split the seams where you insert the backrest. I bought it last September and should have taken it back immediately. Those of you that have bent the bracket, which part are you modifying?
Yes, I have messed with the screw in the back of the pad, went from completely tight to almost falling out, nothing helped. It's almost like the Sundowner puts the rider too far back on the bike for the backrest to be in the proper position. Again, kicking myself for not returning it right after I got it.
The "non adjustable" is adjustable just not n the fly. It has been a great addition to my long distance riding once I got it set to what i like and I do not have to worry about it moving on me.
