Bottom of fuel tank and A/C cover were the areas I did not like having them mounted but I don't think you have much of an option in those areas.

Talking Custom Dynamics

I got my Wizard Lights from Custom Dynamics, excellent lights lifetime warranty on the LEDs, great customer support. Also got the Plasma Rods for my SG that are hooked to my breaks lights, REALLY provide great safety and visibility from the rear, act as running and blinkers too. If you hit me from behind, you better have a great lawyer. There are folks out on the net that have provided placement diagrams for lighting your bike. do a google search and you will find one. I placed mine in areas that do not interfere with any work being done on the bike(didn't want the wrenches to mess them up). I can remove saddlebags, seat, wheels, breathers, engine parts and fairings without disturbing one single pod. (I did the job myself and there are no wires showing) I have 12 pods on mine. Lights up ground, engine, front custom wheel back custom wheel, under seat behind saddle bags. Looks great. The wizards have 37 different functions, and 7 different bright colors, all by remote. I like the lightening and the breath functions best. Well, I guess I need to get paid for this advertisement huh? Anyway, I think they are pretty good... Good luck. Custom Dynamics has a good website that can demonstrate lights too. Check it out. Oh...One more thing, Go to the store and get some POSTER PUTTY in the school supply area. You can mount your lights with it, doesn't hurt the paint, leaves no residue and you can move the lights around to see where they have the best effect. Then when you are ready, peel and stick.

how much power do these things draw?, how long can your bike sit lit up real nice without running before killing the battery?
also isn't it illegal to run with them on? (in most states)

I did a ten hour test on mine and had no problems at all.

Yes, you should check your state laws. Some states just restrict some colors like red & blue.

I have blue lights on mine. They do not flash and are not extremely bright. I get alot of compliments on how cool they look.
The only guy that did not like them was a local rookie cop. He told me that they were illegal. He did not give me a ticket, just asked to cut them off.
He could not give me the statue at the time, but was nice enough to call me back with the number.
I looked up the statue. I'm not a lawyer, but the way I read the statue I think I'm in compliance.
I'm less than 300 candle power, you can't see the lights in your rear view mirror, and they do not shine 75' from the bike.
I have continued to run them, and have not been stopped. I figure if I do get a ticket I will ask for a jury trial and see what happens.
This is how the statue reads:

SECTION 56-5-4830. Special restrictions on lamps; degree of intensity; red, blue and flashing lights.
Any lighted lamp or illuminating device upon a motor vehicle, other than head lamps, spot lamps, auxiliary lamps, flashing turn signals, emergency vehicle warning lamps, and school bus warning lamps, which project a beam of light of an intensity greater than three hundred candlepower shall be so directed that no part of the high intensity portion of the beam will strike the level of the roadway on which the vehicle stands at a distance of more than seventy-five feet from the vehicle.
A person shall not drive, move, or park any vehicle or equipment upon a highway with a lamp or device on it displaying a red or blue light visible from directly in front of the center of it. This section shall not apply to a vehicle upon which a red or blue light visible from the front is expressly authorized or required by this chapter. Flashing lights are prohibited except on an authorized emergency vehicle, school bus, snow-removal equipment, or on any vehicle as a means of indicating a right or left turn or the presence of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring unusual care in approaching, overtaking, or passing.

I have the Chameleons by Fast Lights LEDs on my Street Glide. It has a remote that let's me cycle through a lot of different colors along with steady on, flashing, or breathing.
