Default Security light, (key)

The security light stays on all the time. I replaced the battery in my fob but it didn't help. The bike is an 08 Ultra. I checked with the dealer and was told, "what day would you like to bring it in?" "We cna't tell what it is until we check the code reader." Then they started talking about adding aftermarket tuners, etc to the bike. I thought this was a security only circuit. Why would an AM tuner have anything to do with it?

I'm thinking of disconnecting the battery to clear the light then see if it comes back.

Your bike has thrown a code. It is not a security only thing. If the engine light or security light stays on it means your bike threw a code. Do a code search and then clear it and see if it comes back. There is a procedure for checking codes posted on this forum. Simple to do and saves money by not taking it in just to read a code.

My 08 did the same thing. Culprit was a burned-out front signal bulb. Replaced bulb, problem corrected!

Thanks for the responses. Just printed out the code procedure. I'll give that a try. Yeah, the bike still runs fine. Except for the light, there is no issue.

Give us an update if you find a code and what it was.

Signal lights should flash when the alarm is armed, disarmed or activated. They are electrically connected to the alarm system. Check and make sure your signals are working properly. If they are check your brake light. Also the back brakelight switch and the front one as well.

Ran the diagnostic today. Came up with codes b1154 and c1095. After a bit of research, (it seems no one has an actual complete list of codes), I determined they related to the front brake and clutch swithes. This makes sense as I just changed to aftermarket grips. I cleared both and now will have to wait to see if that took care of the issue. I was careful to put a spacer between the lever and the body, on both sides, when I was changing the grips. So, I'm hoping I haven't damaged them.

My security light came on several days ago. I changed the key fob battery and the light went out. Maybe I just got lucky.

That's what I thought, (hoped) it was. I too replaced the batteries. But, to no avail. BTW, most people, with experience, recommend buying 3 batteries. One for each fob and one to keep as a spare, somewhere on the bike.
