Trim Rings - Lens Removal ?

Question Trim Rings - Lens Removal ?
Ok, just call me DUMB! Trying to remove the smoked lens from the bullet style smoke trim rings to I can black out the actual ring itself. There are several tabs on the lens. It won't twist to the right or left. The ring being cheap plastic won't take much abuse and I don't dare try to pry the lens out to hard. So who has removed them and what the hell is the trick lol ?

You removing the lens from the ring itself or off the housing?

See attached. You can gently put force on the front of the lens and push it out the rear.

You do know that HD now sells black trim rings, yes?

Yep, lens from trim ring.. gently lmao? Uh huh.. right. Didn't know they sell the rings nope.
I'll try gently... need a damn 8 lb sledge lmfao
