Default fueling up my RoadKing

This may sound like a stupid question but, I just bought a 1996 Road King FLHRI. It has two gas caps, one of which is the fuel gauge. Do I put gas in both sides or just the one that doesnt have the gauge?

Don't try and pull the gas gauge one out - you'll break it. Fills only from the other one.

If it was 60 or 70 years ago the left would have been an oil tank sorry but in all honesty buy a manual.

Thank you so much. This is my first Harley and I will get a manual to treat it as I should.

The gas cap question is answered.........do not to be afraid to ask about anything else..........(you must have a lot if this is your 1st Harley)......no stupid questions, only stupid answers).

Many, many years ago I thought that both were "fillers".......

The shop/parts books will be the best small investment you can make for sure!!!

Welcome to the Forum!

Right side is the fuel cap.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as a "stupid question." Everyone's got to learn from somebody. I have learned so much from this Forum and I continually do so!

Ride Safe.

Thumbs up

RSIEGE...
Congrats on the new to you scoot, and welcome to the forum.
Having said that...one of your very first investments should be a factory manual for your bike. It is actually very well written and fairly easy to comprehend. Will save you lots of dough when you begin doing your own service and mods.
Gotta learn to have thick skin 'round here sometimes, lots of very knowledgeable fellas here. Most often ya gotta weed through the bullchit, but you'll get an answere most every time.

Enjoy your new scoot and ride safe!!
