I'd pick a few different used shields and try to find the right one for you. Lots of variables here...personal preference, seat, your height, season of the year, etc. And then you can change shields every once in awhile when you get tired of riding with the same shield.
i'm using the flip style long ride shield on my streetglide and it works great. matt from long ride shields suggested at my height that the 10" shield would be right. his estimation was correct. i'm able to look over the top of the windshield by about two inches and the windstream occurs just above the top of my helmet, leaving me a still pocket of air that i'm riding in. anything beats the stock streetglide windshields, but they do look great if you're not going any distance.
Windvest here with re-curve and love it and did help a lot.
Buffeting...after three windshields, lowers, bat wing deflectors and lower tree deflector I can finally enjoy a good cigar at 80. Someone on this forum gave me advice (a couple of years back) very much like what I ended up doing
My opinion is you will always have some wind buffeting with a bat wing fairing no matter what you put on it. Check out the wind shield on a Gold wing, now that's a frickin' wind shield.http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/1...ields%2Fdes%2F
I've a 10 SG with a sundowner and I put a clearview 6'' recurve on and it works beautifully and no one will know it is not stock unless you point it out.
Give Matt at Long Ride Shields a call... he will be able to explain all their models & steer you to what you are looking for.
I met up with him locally a while back and he let me try a couple shields to see what worked best... great service and a real nice guy to boot!
Went with a LRS Classic (didn't have the LRS Ultra at the time). The flip on the 9" worked the exact same as the stock 12" as far as wind deflection goes, but looked a lot better with a shorter height and nice tint. Couldn't have been happier with the shield!
Sold the old bike last fall. The first purchase for the new bike is another LRS shield to replace the boring tall/clear stock one. Ordered both an 8" and 9" Ultra. Will use the 8" dark tint most of the time and probably throw the 9" med tint on for long trips in case I need to hunker down & look through the shield due to rain or bugs at night.
8" Long Range Shield clear with a flip, also have the T-Bags that keep the four inches above the fairing black and keeps that original bad azz Street Glide look.
