,, sounds like your wife rides w/ya alot... so does mine,,,,, Ultra, only way to go,,, we dont know how we had so much fun on a dyna,,
TIP... if shes happy your happy , if your happy its all GREAT!
like jumping from a camaro to a cadilac!!!!
tj,, go to HD.com and look at the electa glides , you can compare the classic to the Ultra there
You're not going to do the wrong thing no matter which model ElectraGlide you get. But if you're commuting 140 miles a day, then you are gonna want cruise control. If you go with the Classic, you'll have to add it on (or have the dealer do it). You get the lowers on the Ultra (which you can add to the Classic), which are nice when the weather goes to hell.
The wife and I just took a 500 mile trip this weekend on my new Ultra. I love that bike, and I don't think I'll ever get my wife to throw a leg over my 77 FLH again! She's had a taste of the good life, so to speak.
Comfortable & made for the long haul. Cruise control, intercom, headsets for stereo, CB radio for communications with other Ultra Classics, Goldwings[sm=icon_stickpoke.gif], & big trucks etc...
Did I mention the Ultra Classic is the only way to go[sm=bounceybounce.gif]
If you want the lower fairings, a CB/Ant, cruise control, tail/brake lights on the tour pack, and rear speakers, go for the Ultra. The price difference between the Classic and Ultra is roughly the cost of those parts if you added them to the price of the Classic
A friend just converted his '06 Classic to an Ultra Plus (he added some stuff not on the Ultra) and is happy with what he did. He opted not to go with the lower fairings, otherwise it is an Ultra.
As others have said, take a look at all of the Glides, Electra and Road. You really can't go wrong with any of them.
MEN,
I started out hell bent on a Road king Classic, "BUT"!! I work 67 miles one way from work to the prison that I work at and would love to use this bike as a fair weather alternative to saving gas money. The storage space the ultra can supply to me and the comfort of the ride on 140 mile round trip runs 6 days a week, I really think the ULTRA might be the best bang for the buck ! whata think ??
Tj
I find the storage space is great even for just going to work. Nothing tied down, no backpack and nothing flapping in the wind. Everything I want to have handy or I need to take with me is either in the Tourpak or saddle bags. Having the radio/MP3 player blasting out of four speakers is way cool too.
For touring or the long ride with my wife, the intercom cannot be beat and the CB to talk to another biker with a CB is a plus too.
