2011 Road King Classic - FLHRC
The first thing I looked for was "Purple Power", once at a friends house I sprayed a little on and the WWW and it literally wiped clean !!
I was amazed. HOWEVER; be careful not to get in on aluminum so I'm told or anything other than the tire.
Needless to say I couldn't find mine so I tried yet another trick I read in a post.
Magic Eraser. I just happened to have one so it was worth a shot. This was OK but I go over the WWW at least twice to be sure and the eraser disintegrated after doing the back tire.
Needing to finish the job...I went to my old standby
Westlys WW cleaner. Again one MUST BE CAREFUL...not to get it on aluminum. The instructions say spray on dry tire. Somehow I always forget that part and before I know it I have the bike hosed pretty good. Insurance for me, just in case I get a little cleaner where I shouldn't...its's now diluted.
I lightly spray cleaner on the back tire WW, at the bottom and as I rotate the tire some of the spray will run to the rim edge then around to the bottom. That edge is a little dirt trap so I'm okay with this.
Letting that sit a few min while I spray the opposite side. Then back to the first side, again a little spray at bottom and a good 'ol scrub brush (easy to hold). A light scrub as I rotate wheel and then again on opposite side. Light spray with garden hose at bottom of wheel as I rotate it flooding both sides with water.
Then a good spray all about to make sure I got it all off.
Front wheel is easier to spray.. again I keep it off the painted fender, try not to get it all over rim as well. (don't know if it will hurt chrome) Using the same method..rotate the tire and spray at the bottom. Whatever runs will ride the rims edge.
Im sure others may have more knowledge on this ritual..less caustic or harmful to paint etc. maybe green cleeners or orange? who knows ?
Hope this helps. SC

1. How is the wind buffeting compare on both - obviously the RKC with the shield?
2. If I got a RKC, I would want to replace the wheels for laced wheels that are sealed, such as those made by American Wire, who has done this and how has it worked out for you? Going on a road trip with tubed tires does not give me the warm & fuzzies...
Here are a few pics, enjoy!
