Thanks for the great info. I will be purchasing a BAL-1 when I return to the states. I talked to a couple Italian friends who are Carabinieri (national cops), they said that when traveling outside my area, it would bring attention to me, meaning I would get pulled over, they are pretty cranky about flashing lights on non-official vehicles. Anyway, long story short, the HD light is only $109 through Zanottis, they were nice enough to add it to my current order, so no extra shipping. As I said, when I get back to the states, I will pull the trigger on it. I am lucky, I can sell the taillight I just bought to a buddy when I leave, that way, it won't seem like a $200 part to my wife.
In the State of California, if you have flashing brake lights, they must not flash over three times and them go solid. Any thing else will get the bike a ticket up to impounded.
I will pick up 2 BAL's today while I am in Fl. from Fletchers HD in Clearwater
today. Both lay down, one with tag light and one without. Got them with
a 15% discount, Thanks to Jake.................Tenn.Vol.
I got the HD unit for my SG. I really like the look - but it was a PITA to get on. The wires had little or no where to go - so they were pinching the between the light housing and the fender plug block. This kept the light from really sealing around the out side edges to make it water tight.
After 20 mins of dickin' with it I had to hack the inside ribs of the new light back to make room - not too cool.

Mine went on smooth. You do have to place the wire harness bend towards the center to not get caught between the foam seal and the chrome plastic back housing. Be careful when tightening. Most overtighten the screws and crack the plastic around the screw holes. It does not seal shut. There is an 1/16 of an inch all around when snug. Take a flash light and shine at crack when tightening. You will see it makes contact about a 1/16" out. I just did mine and my tail tip light. I cleaned and waxed the area behind the tail tip light and used the dialectic grease in the harness plugs.

I have the HD LED Tail light and had to grind the ribs down with a Dremel tool.It fits much better now,no pinching of the wires and no stress on the housing.
