I just posted this little gem on a Honda forum. I get to do that, because I own one. (of the good ones they stopped making)
I'm sure it'll add to the excitement over there.. and they need a bit anyway.
>>>> I just noticed in the GW specs it's still a 5 speed. Although they try to confuse the issue a bit with the wording, "5 Speeds including Overdrive". But, yeah, it's still a 5 speed.
When they come out with a new model GW as opposed to a 2 tone paint job and some GPS doo-dads and a USB port, maybe they'll get around to adding a 6th gear and making it a real overdrive.
Honda should give lessons in how to drag out an aging model rather than actually try hard.
At this rate HD will come out with a water-cooled version of their Ultra and begin the process of making Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki remember when they had at least a small sliver of the market.
Oh.. I forgot, Honda stopped caring around 2003.
I love the FatLady, and she is becoming even more special every day as the only real metric motorcycle that's got soul. (...yeah, if you gotta ask.. you won't understand) <<<

I need to know what you are drinking this evening. Please do tell. If its made in a country were we fired enough MT soup cans at it to build a bike, well O.K. I guess. But to come on here looking for favor riding a rice rickshaw, thats crossing the line. What bike you riding? Honda? Harley? None of the above?
No, I own one of each and FLHTC and a Honda Valkyrie. The Valkyrie has lots of miles so I just kept it as a back up when one of my buddies bikes breaks down we got another one to use.
I'm confused and my gut hurts from laughing. Are we talking about Harley's or Honda's or a little of both.
Wait a sec. You posted that small paragraph on the Honda Forum. I think I am getting it now. I read it all at once and got really confused for a sec. Sorry
I asked my Honda buddy the other day when he was going to get a Harley and he hit with this...."soon as they come out with a power train that wasn't built in the 50's.

Yes, the word "including" regularly confuses me, too.
???
So trolling over there is ok, but trolling over here isn't?
Neither Harley nor Honda has done any revolutionary powertrain work to motorcycles since long before the 50s, so we can all stop kidding ourselves and just ride. Well, maybe the OP and I can't 'cause the black ice in Mass, was ulgy yesterday and its just plain COLD today.
Who cares how many gears, it's having the right ratios for the power to weight ratio of the bike. I've had 4 speed bikes that did just fine. And I believe that 5th on the GW is a true overdrive.
