I just bought an 06 Street Glide (first road bike ever, not even delivered yet) and was looking for a similar look but wanted a solo. I found that the Mustang daytripper and tripper (2 up vs solo of the same model) had the look, were made in the US and were affordable. I can't testify to comfort, but found plenty of good reviews and figure in reality there's no way to be sure other than trying for yourself on something this subjective.

I bought mine off ebay just a few minutes ago (185 delivered for the solo, part #76350) but mustangseatdealer.com had great pricing as well if ebay doesn't have the non-solo.

Thanks for all the info, I appreciate your time guys. The bike is home and we have started cleaning etc. It has an K&N power commander II on it that I'm pretty sure is not programed correctly at this point, as she popping a little. I will sort that out soon.

On the seat, I'm liking the looks of the day tripper, but wonder how to put a passenger backrest on?

Thanks

I gotta figure out how to post a pic, more to come

Hey Sputter, be prepared for a couple of possible things with your seat change.

1) There could easily be rubbed-off spots or scratches on the fender under that seat. If you go with a solo seat, it may not cover those spots (if they are there). You will find, again, a dozen choices for leather trim strips made to go behind a solo seat. I am not crazy about that look but totally depends on what floats you boat of course.

2) If you put another 2-up seat on there, and your fender is not scratched/rubbed already, there are clear films you can apply to protect the paint.

Of course, all if you care about that kind of thing. I tend to get too focused on just getting the bike off the lift and back on the road than being perfect with every little (or not so little) appearance thing. I like to ride, not be in a fashion show (much). Just me.

MKGuitar wrote a great set of advice and insight for you in an earlier post.

Have fun man!!

First suggestion, don't get too anxious. Look around, go to Harley shops, sit on the various model touring bikes, try friends seats and decide what fits your butt, your arm-length, your in-seam and your bike before doing anything...

Second suggestion, if money is an issue (and it is for me) go on ebay and look at OEM seats that will fit your bike (the mounting tabs are different for different years so make sure it fits). If you are looking for the tapered look, pay special attention to Street Glide seats - people are always selling OEM seats on ebay for pennies on the dollar.
