I recieved my new Corbin Classic Solo seat in the mail today. The instructions say to remove the stock seat, then if you do not have a heated seat, skip to step 10.
Nowhere in the instructions are there any guidence on removing the rear seat bracket (or whatever it is).
Does anyone know what goes, and what stays on the bike toward the rear of the seat?
Take a picture. I'm not sure what bracket you're talking about. I have a classic solo on my RKC, I didn't have to remove anything, but the seat bracket for the Corbin does install on the 2 bolts sticking out of the rear fender.
Do you have a rider's backrest on your bike, by any chance? If yes, it has to be removed.
Your Corbin Classic solo should have come with a bracket that mounts on the 2 threaded studs that normally has an optional rider backrest. If you need me to, I can take a picture tomorrow with the Corbin Classic solo seat off.

I did not install a riders backrest on the bike, but I did buy it used, so it could have been on the bike at some point in time.
There is a bracket that attaches to the two bolts coming out of fender. The stud that is threaded is bolted in the tab at the base of your tank. You slip the back of the seat under the bracket and then drop the front of the seat onto the stud and it should click in. The key lock releases the catch to remove front first then the back.
That's the HD backrest mount. You have to remove it. Remove the bracket and additional support bracket and all 4 bolts (both items shown in the photo) If you have a Corbin backrest it mounts on the Corbin seat frame itself.
Yep, what everybody else said. The gold piece and the black piece connected to it are for the Harley branded rider backrest, that apparently was on the bike at one time. Remove it as the Corbin bracket replaces the gold piece.
