"best" position for highway pegs
#11
On my 09 RG with lowers, I have the short angled ones. I'm 5'11" with 30" inseam. I can rest my heels on my floorboards and toes on the pegs. Or I can place my feet on the pegs for more room and can even place the back of my heel on top of the pegs and really stretch out.
I love them. I also have Harley Goodies florboard extenders to move my feet 1" further out. Nice combo.
Check ebay, might find a cheap used set in good condition.

Highway pegs are supposed to be located where you can stretch your legs out rather than having bent knees like when your feet are on the pegs / floorboard.
I had a buddy point out to me I had mine set too high. He mentioned when you ride down the road you don't want your legs in the air and have the wind blowing up your pant leg. We were riding in the cold fall weather and I went home and lowered them into a better, more thought out position.
I find you need to have them where they don't give you balance issues when you have your feet up on them while cruising.

With a 30" inseam, I have mine mounted in order to give me the option of two additional foot placement positions.
1. The ball of the foot on the peg with the heel on the foot board.
2. The leg further extended with the foot fully on the peg.
If interested, you can check the photo in my album. I have the Kuryakin ISO pegs which also have a lot of surface area.

Short for SURE. I am 6'2 and have a 34" inseam and still wanted the "short" version (Longhorns - so not talking the Harley part here). http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/4616-1.jpg I don't use these actal footpegs, but they are the same mounts I use.
The range of motion is huge based on whether or not you have the base mounted facing forward or back on the engine guard...then you rotate to it fine-tune.
I put them on with the "base" mounted facing forward, then the arm rotated back and slightly down so I can:
1) Heel on floorboard, toe on peg.
2) Full foot center planted on the peg.
3) Back of heel rested on TOP of peg (long ride tired leg mode).
YMMV
