The common denominator seems to be that having towing insurance is a damn good idea for those of us that like to stray from the nest.
AAA also has a motorcycle-specific plan now, so it's not necessary to get the RV plan (unless you also have one of those).
Just last weekend a buddy had to use his Road America plan when he got a flat in southern New Mexico. Turned out the closest dealer was 100 miles in the opposite direction. But, they had a tech working on Sunday, so it was all good.
The tow company (a grandfather and grandson - both Harley riders) showed up with a Haulmark trailer. They said they have two of them because they want to protect their client's scoots during transport.
Since folks are mentioning Good Sam coverage, I want to add something to my earlier post about the tow truck operator only stopping to help me after a couple hour wait. I had Good Sam tow coverage. That is one of the companies that doesn't pay and the towing companies only respond if not out of their way, etc. That is what the guy told me ( he pulled up in his personal vehicle when out shopping). your results may be different. But that is what happened to me in my vehicle.
Thanks for the head-up! I just called Coach-Net my RV road service and they said
they cover all my vehicles, cycle included and would take it to the nearest service
center.....Tenn.Vol.
i have roadside on my insurance. cost like $7.00 for the year.
i had HOG, what a waste of money that was. got a flat tire about 60 miles from home. ended up sitting on the side of the road for almost 5 hrs. kept calling them every 30 mins or so, they couldn't get anyone to come get me. after a couple of hours of waiting, the wife rode her bike home, hooked up the trailer to the truck and came up and got me.
Great info on the 20 buck upgrade. The coverage is worth it.. now that I know I can put 2 bikes on one. Thanks "MK"! Wife rides her own and has been upgrading to the deluxe package along with me every year for the past 3 years. Thanks again!
