A buddy of mine had the saddlebags stolen off his EG Classic. They weren't locked. I guess they're just quick release??? But his bike was at work (covered) Bummer. Ins "full coverage" will only cover the HD toolbag.
I also heard they were stealing the quick release tour paks up at Street Vibes in Reno.
BASTARDS !!!!!!!!!!
Just something else for us to worry about, I've often wondered about my quick release windshield on my Heritage.
Well I suppose I'll start [sm=lockeddance.gif] my bags. Never did before, figured why lock them if nothing wasn't in them, never thought anyone would steal the darn bags. Thanks for the info, it really makes you[sm=confused06.gif]
Let me get this straight - Ins will NOT cover the stolen HD bags???
Last year in Jackson Ca after Vibs - saw a custom HD pull at a gas station - rider was sitting on a towel - I made the comment - bike finished but the seat not??? NOPE - custom seat stolen at Vib??? Yes,,, the bad guys are getting very brave... I am calling my Ins co. tomorrow and asking questions....
With the prices this stuff costs its no wonders the criminals have figured out were easy pickens, a detachable tour pack, backrest and mount goes new for over a grand! A phillips screwdriver can get you a 400.00 seat in 20 seconds, bags gone in 30 seconds a good thief could net a couple of grand woth of goods in a few ungarded minutes. [:@]
Just another thing to worry about now. Remember the days when people wouldn't even think of touching a bike because bikers were badass
?...not no more. If I ever cantch someone stealing anything from me or hell it dont matter if its my neighbors stuff..you steal, you get your *** beat. I hate chicken sh#$ theves.[sm=badbadbad.gif]
No the bags are covered as is the factory eq tool kit. But NOT the contents. So much for "full coverage"
So he's out a pair of gloves and a few other goodies. Lucky his leather's were not in there.
You can still get at them with a wrench even locked huh? Remember the good ol' days when there was stickers on Harley's "Protected by Smith & Wesson" ?? And they meant it !!!!!!

I was also wondering about stolen quick release items (I've got a windshield and sissy bar on my Sporty); can a person order the docking hardware for those items? Seems like it would be a waste of time to take them without the mounts.
