Looking for handlebar install instructions for 2010 FLHX
Ok, so I did a search on here and just got lost in all of the posts. I ordered the 13" Cyclesmiths for my 2010 FLHX and I am looking for a "How to...." with pics if anybody has done this and taken pics and has done a write-up.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
I know that the tank has to come off and I was told that the exhaust has to come off but I don't see why yet? I am putting on handle bars; why does the exhaust have to come off? I don't steer with my feet... What is the best way to deal with the fairing? Do I have to cut the wires for the Fly by Wire and make them longer? Any other tips or tricks? The dealership wanted another $550 to install these bars and I just don't have that kind of cash...
This link should help you. Great pictures! www.kenandjudy.us, then "motorcycles", then "2002 Ultra classic", then "Chubby WO 575's"
Yes, very helpful indeed. This is what I was looking for. I am on a diesel forum and have written a few write-ups with pics and the link that you posted is exactly what I was looking for. I have a service manual but...
Just changed out my bars on my '11 SG. No need to remove tank or exhaust. Removed heatshield over the cat area and could get the clutch cover off. Have to take the outer fairing off to get the radio out as getting to the handlebar clamp bolts is a pita. Really is a stupid design. Just take your time & pay attention. Take pictures as you disassemble. Oh yeh, and get the service manual!
