Default Road King Classic as Daily Driver?

I am looking into getting a Road King Classic, and wonder if y'all have experiences or such on using this as a daily driver...especially how it would handle in stop-n-go traffic. I can't go to a dealer and test drive cause i'm stuck over here in the desert. Thanks and take care,
JJ

JJ-

I use my '07 RKC as a daily driver. The clear windscreen makes it feel very maneuverable in traffic, as I have an unobstructed view in front of me. I exchanged the standard height screen for the "mid-low" screen that is two inches shorter than standard so that I can easily see over the screen at all times (I am 5'10"). I suppose that the lighter clutch pull of the '07 helps, but this is my first Harley so I don't have a reference point. The leather saddlebags hold my laptop computer, extra jacket, shoes, etc and have good capacity for daily commuting. I'm really pleased with the RKC as an alternative to the automobile. I chose the Classic because of the nostalgic look of the leather saddlebags, whitewall tires, laced wheels, and long, low profile. I think that the hardshell bags of the standard Road King or other touring models might be *slightly* more convenient with the way that they open, but I am well pleased with the Classic.

You will not be disappointed. So many options and styles you can do with the RKC. You will love the cruise control that comes with the classic.

As for the bags, they will hold more items, just get you a lock for them. The lock Harley sells will take away space and it can be a little hard to operate.

I have an 04 Road King that I use daily for a week at a time. It's fine for that. If I were to be in stop-and-go traffic on the commute, I would opt for an easier clutch pull (the 07 models are much easier). I would also get a tourpak for larger than laptop-size items and a place to stor my helmet at work or wherever so I didn't have to carry it back and forth. You can get an inexpensive tourpak. Lockable sidebags are a must (even though nothing is theftproof).

I use mine, 27 miles each way, not a problem at all. Mines the Custom, not the Classic, I'm missing the Cruise, have added many other items to get the ride I want. 2006 which also came with the easy clutch pull.

My Electraglide Classic is my daily driver; a Road King certanly shouldn't be any more difficult. It is SO much more enjoyable than traveling in a cage.

30 miles one way in heavy traffic and love it. If you are 5'9" or shorter you may want to put a lowering kit on it. I have the sundowner seat and a lowering kit (1.5") and still not comfortably flat footed at stops. Not sure which direction I am going to go from here.
