Default Looking for the real Harley sound

I have a 2009 Road King, I put Rinehart slip-ons on it. But it doesn't quite have the true Harley sound. Anyone have them with a different head pipe? If so do you like the sound? It seems like the 2009's are tougher to get the sound, any help would be appreciated.

the problem is the headpipe, I have try 4 diferent mufflers with stock 2-1-2 headpipe, none of them had the harley sound.

I changed stock 2-1-2 for true duals and get a sound similar to the harley sound.

keep in mind that nothing will sound like carb engines with the oldtimes cams but the most similiar you can get to that is true duals with small diameter mufflers and se 204 cams.

dont waste your money in mufflers trying to get harley sound with 2-1-2 headpipes

...the "real Harley Sound"...went away once they came out with the EVO...if by "real Harley sound"..you just mean LOUDER..well...that can still be done...but no more "pah-tay-ta..pah-tay-t".....idle is too high on anything past 1984...(except for the one shovel head FLH they made in 1985)...

With the Twin Cam you do not want to try and get the idle lowered to make it lumpy sounding as it can cause insufficient oil pressure at idle.

I of course have not listened to every muffler out there, but in looking for an exhaust system that meets my specific wants/needs, I came across some You Tube audio/video clips of the V&H Twin Slash pipes. They are installed on a SG with V&H Dresser Duals. What constitutes the "Real" Harley sound if, of course, somewhat subjective, but to me, they sound like the factory stock exhaust, but louder and more pronounced. Links to the clips are below. If they were offered in a Straight Cut or Slash Up design, I would consider them myself.

Nah. My sporty and my lowrider have the sound. Idle is as speced. But they are carbed and they are not "loud"

Without the ability to manually adjust your timing, idle speed, and with the different cam types that were being used in the older engines, makes it almost impossible to get the "sound of the older Harley's" out of a new engine. You might not get that old Harley sound but if you use the suggestions of head pipes, cams, and muffler upgrades (with a dyno tune) then I think you are going to get a sound that is close to what you are searching for.

I appreciate all the opinions and comments, I might try the V&H Dresser duals with my Rineharts. I realize I will lose low end performance but I didn't buy a bagger to race.
