Default Vibration

I have an '07 Street Glide It has a very noticable vibration between 22- 2800 rpm in all gears. The vibration is at it's worst in 5th gear at 60MPH and 6th gear at 70+ MPH. It gets so bad it blurs my vision. Does anyone else have this type of problem with thier new '07? I have talked with a few others who do and I would like to know of any more. It is a saftey issue as well as a waste of good money if I can't ride the bike. Please Email me as I need to take this issue up with Harley and my dealer and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. If you don't want to Email me the numbers for Harley and the NHTSA are in your owners manual. I also have an '07 Road King, No Vibrations! Thank you all!

Wish I could afford to have 2 bikes. Lucky you or should I say unlucky you!

Good luck

I have a 2007 Street Glide but have never owned a Harley before and am not used to vibration being "normal". However I did notice the vibration you mentioned and also an unusual noise when in 5th and 6th gear. I took the bike to the dealer and asked them about it and they said that they had heard about others complaining about the unusual vibration. They also said that they heard it was greatly effected by highway wind.
Aren't all touring models equiped witht eh same engine and transmission? Wouldn't they all have the same vibration? Would the vibration be from the fairing or other items not on the Road King?
I hate that I bought a $20000 motorcycle and can't take a trip in comfort. You have contacted Harley about it? Will they discuss this with you?

I only have 500 miles on the bike so I don't have much experience. Please let me know if you find anything more on this possible safety problem.

PM me and I'll give you my phone number. We can discuss this further.

To both you guys with this being your first post, Welcome aboard. Do a search on the alleged '07 problems (5th gear tranny whine and clatter issue) here on the forum

I never said I could afford to have two bikes. It just sounds good on paper.

I have contacted Harley customer care and they have given me a case number and recorded my concern. I also went over to my local dealer and had a long discussion with them about this potential problem.
The dealer wanted me to be happy and said they would do what is necessary to make me that way. I am going to take the bike to them and have some of their techs ride it. Then I am going to ask them one at a time to give me their opinion. After that I am going to check back with you guys, by phone, to see if you had gotten any action on your end.
Please grant me the same courtesy and let me know if you get any action or find any information.

I initiated a complaint with the NHTSA today. You should do the same. I am not getting the assistance from the dealer I need, only that they cannot feel it. I mentioned to the NHTSA of the other ones with the exact same issue. I do not feel it is safe to ride due to the vision impairment after 50 miles. HD seems to only want to say it is normal and I will not accept this.

Have you talked to HD or the dealer and had anything resolved?

Vison imparement? Sure its not helmet buffiting being the short windshield? Do the mirrors move or is it your eyes dancing around? My classic with the short shield would make my vision blur, jump and was very distracting, put a real windshield on and smoooooooooth sailing!
