Hi everyone! I'm new here, and really just joined to hopefully get some advice... My dad passed away in November, and we're sorting through everything, and getting ready to sell his bike. He has a 79 Harley that he bought brand new, and only put about 3700 miles on it. Its in great shape, as it has been garage kept, etc... I was hoping you guys could help me by giving me a ball park of what to ask for it...Forgive me here, b/c im absolutely not an expert..but i know its a 1200 FLH..just not sure the exact names of the models that year??...its got hard saddlebags and tourpak and all that..its a neat bike.. anybody know a good price?
Up here in Canada you would probably get 12 to 13 thousand if it's got that low of mileage and is in mint condition, in the US maybe 9 or 10 thousand if your lucky. Good luck with the sell, sounds like a sweet old bike!
Thanks guys.. I looked into the KBB..but i thought that was a little cheap considering mileage/condition.. We are def. looking to sell though.
Low mileage on an old bike is not a good thing. All that sitting around is bad on a lot of parts. It'll take the buyer a lot of time and money getting it road ready again.
I'll try to get some pictures soon.. appreciate the help guys.. he said for years he was gonna sell it and get him a new one, but never got around to it i guess
Gonna go this weekend and clean it up and take pics.. and he had it runnin rairly recently..so we're hoping just the battery and maybe some carb cleaning is all it will take
