Is there any way to slow the idle down a little with the PCV? I was riding with some bikes last weekend and they idled alot lower. They did have a zippers kit on 1 and the SE 110 kit on the other, i dont know if that had anything to do with it. Also I need to do some small adjusments, per FM, do i need to have the bike running to adjust the fuel table?
In the timing tables you can take off a little in the idle range. Most people when they adjust their timing add or subtract 1 to 3 points with no problems. If you go more than that, I don't know what happens.
On a cold start, my 09 RK will rev up and down a bit (@1100 - 1500 rpm or so - sometimes higher) at idle but settles down after that and runs just fine including subsequent warm starts.
I was going to tweak it but figured it's the nature of the beast and not something to worry about. Just a little annoying sometimes.

2010 SG does the same thing only some times. Always when it is cold.
My 2011 Wide Glide will idle real high if I don't start it before the engine light goes out. It has the PCV and I've read it resets itself if it isn't started right away.
I don't believe you can adjust your idle with the PCV. I wanted to do this also, but then I learned that my current bike with fuel injection really shouldn't have the idle turned down like you do with a carb'd bike. I forget the reason, but I think it has something to do with the oil flow.

i heard it was that and needs a normal idle to keep battery charged...
by the way jeff...(not tryin to steal this thread) where is that picture taken thats in your signature?? looks like a great time.
There is no way to adjust idle speed with the PCV, at least not directly. You could try playing with Fuel-Adj. or Spark-Advance values in the idle range (750-1000 rpm @ 0% TP), but I wouldn't do it. Retarding timing may slow the idle, but will also probably increase heat--and I wouldn't lean the Fuel Adj. (lower value) for the same reasons. Increasing heat at idle is a bad idea because you may overheat in traffic, and these bikes run hot in traffic anyway without any help. HD claims that to retain adequate oil pressure you should keep idle RPMs above 900.
You should be idling around 1000 rpm, which is dictated by the ECM. Your HD dealer can change this with the Digital Technician (dealer software), so you might approach them about doing that in warranty. Flash-based tuners like Power Vision, TTS, and SEPST can do this as well.
My '07 is set at 976 rpm in the stock tune, and I tried going to 850, then 900 with poor results. I settled on 950 when warm and that works well.
