SE-255 and the SE-204 are great harley cams for a stock 96" motor. I had great success with my SE-204. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. Who doesn't like 109tq out of a 96!

I think Boogaloodude's explanation is very good, and you can't look at one value in a sea of specs and expect to know how a cam will run in a given environment. I'll admit my eyes go the intake close spec first, however, as that has become force of habit.

That is a good bargain. I am looking at that cam seriously for my bike. I have also looked at the tw-555 cam. I almost never get above 4250 rpm so I would want as much on the bottom end as possible. I am leaning a little to the tw-555 based on some other threads and a dyno chart or two that I have seen. The price for used SE 255s or really good running around $100.00. I guess the question I would have is this "If the SE-255s are good then why are so many available as used?". I looked up the tw-555s and have not seen any used for sale. I might be putting to much into this line of thought and I should probably bite the bullet and get a set of the SE-255s based on the price but that little question just keeps coming up everytime I get ready to hit the buy now button. If someone can shed some light I would appreciate it. My current build is in my sig. Thanks.

I had my 255's in for about 4,000 miles before going 103", with the head work & added compression (10.2:1) the 255's were no longer the right cams for me. Installed Andrew's 54H cams and gained a little in the bottom end but, gained a whole lot of fun on the top end! Find I seldom use it but, I know it there if I choose to!

That's a good question. The SE255 comes standard in all CVO 110 Harleys, and some people who buy these bikes want to build a hot-rod, pumping in more compression and installing more radical cams. They know there's a market for the 255's so these people put the cams up for sale on Ebay, and to me that's what makes them such a bargain. The 255 is the only SE cam installed in stock Harleys, AFAIK, so that's why you see so many up for sale on the used market.

I looked up the tw-555s and have not seen any used for sale. I might be putting to much into this line of thought and I should probably bite the bullet and get a set of the SE-255s based on the price but that little question just keeps coming up everytime I get ready to hit the buy now button. The Wood 555 is fairly new grind and used ones up for sale will be only offered by those who have researched their options, tried them, and want something different. The CVO people have no choice, as the 255's are factory-installed, so if they want something different they will always have the 255's left over, and that means there are more of them in the marketplace. You also occasionally see new ones, sold by people who buy Stage II kits and want something else, as the 255's are standard in that kit. Not everyone wants a cam that emphasizes the low-end and midrange, and that's where we come in and score. If you DIY you can do a cam upgrade for $200-300 using this strategy.
