You'll probably notice it more in resale...

At least get an 08. Bigger tank, extra engine mount, brembo brakes, throttle by wire... the brakes alone are worth it.

At 14500 you're really close to a low mileage 09... nicer bike. Tires last longer, frame is more stable... etc.

08 have brembo brakes. I had a 07 FLHT STD & liked the ride & bike. yes 08 have 6gal tank. chorme wouldn't be a reason to buy a bike Just my 2 cents get something that hasn't been screwed with, like motor work

I agree with Sedona...I get nervous with alot of internal engine work...unless you know the bike, I have seen people buy one that had alot of internal mods, and had problems with it. My advice, stick with stock engine, maybe stage 1 upgrade, and do any internal mods after ya own it. And yes an 09 is better on resale, and handling

I have an 07 flhp and have put 5.6 gal. in it. Only got the bike in Jan. but I'm assuming that it must have a 6 gal. tank. Came out of spring, Tx. Does not have abs or a 103.

Less mileage, and least cost! Simple formula. Then you can do what you want to it, and save a little $$ along the way. I'd go for the 07 Standard and then do what you want to it. But if there's a way to swing it, I'd try and land a 09 or newer with the new frame setup. It's nice, and does make a difference.

I had an 07 Electra Glide Classic. I also had 33,000 miles in less than 2 years on that bike until a deer took us out one night at about 55 mph. Killed the deer and the bike yet I am blessed and walked away.
I now have a 2010 Limited. FREAKING night and day with frame, back tire, brakes. Handling the turns and just everyday riding is so much more comfortable. The security I have with the brakes is enough for me. A few grand more yet lots of bang for the buck. Yet those 3 bikes are nice and like the engine mods on cop bike. Either way ya go your still making out..In the Wind...

Rats

I guess I will have to Seriously think on an 09!! Although the 08 Police is real nice! The Stage II was done at a HD Dealership! I did find an 09 EGS with 4500 miles and ABS,Security System and Cruise for $14,500. The extra $3500 if I got the Police would buy a lot of "Wants". Decisions !Decisions !

PackN,

Ride the '07 and/or '08 you are interested in then go rent an 09 or newer to compare rides. If money is an issue (and to most of us it does matter) you may well decide to hold off until you can get more money together to get the new frame.
