Default Newbie here....?? about 2008 seat adaption?

I am Josh from TX. Love this forum. Been reading for months and just now joined. ? about seat compatibility.

I have a 2008 Ultra Classic and just did the detachable Tour Pak. I was looking at the 2008 SG seat cause it looks sick on the bike. But after much reading.....many people are going to the RG seat for comfort. My ? is...

Will a 2009-2011 RG seat fit on my 2008? Or will I be limited to 2008 seats only due to the frame change in 2009? Just want a for sure answer before I spend 100-150 on a seat and it won't fit. Thanks for the help guys.

Here is my bike:

This forum rocks!!

Thx smat45. So the frame change didn't affect the seat fit, only going from 07-08 and later cause the wider (bigger) 6 gallon gas tank?

So you are saying a 08-11 touring seat will fit my 08 Ultra correctly, just not 07 and earlier? Hope this makes sense? lol

Yes 08 and later will fit 08. 07 and earlier will not fit 08. There is a tab on the seat to fit into the slot on the tank for 07 and earlier. 08 and later there is a tab on the tank to fit in a slot in the seat

Nice bike by the way. The premium tour pak hinges would set that off nicely. I'd look to replace yours.

I just wanted to be sure before I spent so much money on ebay or here and it not fit. ya know?

Yes the tab deal is what I was going by on pictures. I had a guy at work that said his was an 08 take off SG seat. Got it home and the tab had been popped off and cut out to work. Could NOT get it on. Got to looking at the bottom of other seats and its not even the same design. Thx bud. I app the help so quick.

i am using an 09 roadglide seat on my 08 streetglide. it's far more comfortable than the stock sg seat. when you mount it you'll notice that even the stitches in the seat follow the contour of the dash on the tank. it's a huge upgrade, go for the roadglide seat as long as it's not the new one. the new roadglide seat is just like the streetglide seat.

Thx emwolb. The '11 seat is like the uncomfortable SG? The one I am looking at has the pattern of the 08 SG sest. Its not the 2 lines that close together down the seat pattern. Is this the uncomfy one?

Ok the 09-10 RG and SG have the same 52320-09 seat with the original SG stitching. Is the RG seat with the sleek in line stitching that follows the console any different except the stitching? The SG and RG seats are the same starting in '11?
