Any one else experience this, My fuel, and volt instrument gages fog up when it rains or is really humid. I went to the dealer and they say
( Normal ). Then the guy said don't even ask because HD will not replace them . My reaction was $18. 500 for a Street Glide and something as minor as this they can't get it right. All I know is all the other bikes I have owned ( metric ) didn't do this. I just walked away shaking my head.
All of my Harleys have done the same. The sealing on HD guages leaves much to be desired - very poor quality. Speedos on Road Kings are the worst of all.
Everybody deals with this, and unfortunately, it doesn't appear their is anyone in the aftermarket except for dakota digital to offer an alternative gauge set.
Two of my four small gauges have what appears to be mineral buildup inside from all the times its fogged up and been dried out. They look like *****! Atleast they still work.
My guess is most motorcyclists are "fair weather" folk and therefore HD doesn't see a large enough number of people bitching about this problem to warrant doing something.
My H-K Radio had showed some moisture in the display and began fading out.
Dealer warrenty replaced radio.
My fuel gauge was showing some moisture.
Dealer warrenty replaced Fuel gauge.
I have been real lucky with the Dealer I use.
Over 90% of the folks working there are very knowledgable in Harley-Davidson, and are also very knowledgeable in customer relations.
It also makes for a loyal customer base.
Right now me and a few other riding bro's are working on converting a Road King for another bro that has a prosteas(sp) right leg. He has been riding but its getting harder as he gets a bit older.
The parts guy at the Dealership, located us a used hack for a unbelievable price( I actually think the owner ate alot of the price), and has also helped us with takeoff parts so we could fab a rear bake that our bro could use.
We need to fab the rear brake control, because with the hack on he can't bend his fake leg around the strut to get to the OEM one.
