Quick question to anyone that has removed and replaced an inner fairing:
Aside from removing and replacing the outer fairing and the lock assembly is there any other time that the front end has to be moved to either side?
R&R'd my inner before with help from two great buds but did it on a jack last time.
Since then I have purchased a table lift and plan to use it for this inner fairing r&r.
Plan is to take off the outer fairing then pull the ignition and inner cap while the bike is still on the ground. I have an ignition tool that I will then put in and run the bike up on the lift, raise her up then do the rest with the front wheel locked in, nice and straight.
Anyone see a problem with this plan? I can't remember having to turn the bars for anything else.
I think your plan will work fine, although it seems that the bike might be too high way up on that lift. You kinda need it at ground level.
i would agree with that. and leave the lighter out untill your completely done inside the fairing i removed that thing at least 6 times because it was in the way of something, leave side bolts loose until everything else in installed
