MNGPRider, that sucks. Was it within the warranty period that you tried to get them to back up their repair? Regardless, at the least they ought to do an 'at cost' repair for those who got the defective soles. I'd ask them.
Something like this hurts Cruiserworks as much, if not more, than Resole America. Resole America resoles a lot of different mfrs. products. Cruiserworks has only one resoler--Resole America--and if they don't stand behind their work, then Cruiserworks is the one who takes the shaft.
I think I'd try to discuss the issue with CruiserWorks, and see if they have some leverage with Resole America.
I lucked out, when I sent mine back to Resole America (they've held up). But I'm starting to grow reluctant to send them anything else in the future, based upon what by your account is their reluctance to stand behind their work/materials the way I'd expect of a forthright company.
Just got my boots back from Resole and they look great. They do have the proper soles at this time that will not crack. cost me about $70. Well worth it.
+1. Mine came back last week. Excellent job, and a better sole.
Just got my new set of cruiserworks. MUCH better than the ones made (in the Dominican Republic) under the last owners.
Sole is sturdier, a little more lug, more like a vibram sole.
Leather is thicker and of higher quality.
The lining seems softer.
Don't know if the shape is different of if it's the better leather, but the boot looks more like a cowboy boot and less like an engineer boot (or a kid's galoshes).
Overall, I'm very happy. These new guys seem to have their act together.
