Default CB Radio/Audio question

I am wanting to remove my Tour Pack but without the expense of the docking kit. I plan to buy a hidden antenna for the radio to hide in the bat wing, however I don’t use the CB Radio so just want to disconnect the antenna and leave it off...will I harm the CB radio if I remove the antenna but still use the PTT to communicate with my passenger (Usually my niece)?

Also would I be able to leave the head set connection for the passenger and it still be fully functional?

Sorry for the lame questions and thanks in advance for your incite.

As long as you leave the CB switched "off" you won't hurt anything by disconnecting the CB antenna.

Just use the Intercom function for your coms and you'll be fine. The issue you may have is mounting the passenger headset connector and PTT/Vol. switch with the tour pak off the bike, particularly since the PTT/Vol. switch is installed in the speaker pod.

I have the Boom Audio Music and Intercom kit, p/n 77108-09 (newer version is -09A) which mounts the connector and switch together on the left side frame rail; no need for the tour pak or speaker pods.

Good luck with your project.

Carl

You can put a dummy load to replace the antenna of your CB and let your niece enjoy the buttons

I did this on my wife's UC just hide all the wires under the seat and use any wire to connect to the radio antenna and tape it to the frame under seat, works fine locally. If you want to connect CB just go to a truck stop and buy a $20 CB antenna and bolt it some where on rear end it will do the job without any problem.
