Noticed one of my tail lights out on my 2011 FLHTK, Bulb was a silver based 198 12v 32/3cp. Searched high and low auto zone, Orielly for a 198 and had to settle for an 1157 brass base, other than the base, the 1157 has the same specs as the 198 other than the base.
Oh man, don't let the dealer know you did that. If you're engine ever blows up, they'll never cover it!
As for the bulb itself, as long as the specs are the same, I wouldn't worry about it. At worst, you probably paid about 10% of what you would have if you'd bought it from a dealer!
The stealer bulbs are stupid priced - don't ask me how I know that. I think the bulb was $8 or something? Mine was the fender brake light bulb though, and it had some funky plastic piece around it, presumably to isolate vibrations. In my case the bulb was fine - I had corrosion on connectors, which of course means the bulb I replaced will never go bad
