Question Engine Noises

So I was riding yesterday and I noticed an engine noise. The best way I can describe it is similar to lifters tapping in a car. The bike has 2500 miles. There are no oil leaks and the oil gauge stays pretty consistant at 32-36. The oil level shows fine on the stick and warm or cold engine makes no difference. It is the loudest between 2500-3000 rpm, it makes no diff which gear your in. I am going to ride it to the dealer for them to listen to it but want opinions here. 2010 SG motor and pipes breather all stock. Just ordered pipes, breather, and pc for it and dont want to install any of it until I am sure about the motor. Dont want no bs fight about mods and warranty work. So guys, any ideas thoughts or am I just going paranoid here.

By the way it sounds like it is at the top of the motor. Best I can tell anyways.

Probably normal. My 2009 Street Glide sounds like the whole top-end of the engine is coming apart, just like all my Harleys have. It's worth having someone look at it though, just for peace of mind.

There are a lot of threads on this issue. Bottom line is people are shimming up the rocker arm shaft to keep the rocker arms in alignment with the pushrods. Your dealer will tell you the noise is normal.

HD won't touch it unless it craps out !! Your half way there pipes, stereo , and ear plug = miles of smile and you wont notice the noise. Ride it like you stole it. Have fun

I had what I thought was a loud lifter noise, drove me crazy for a couple of days, turned out when I installed a chrome cover on my voltage regulator that it was so close to the oil filter that they were just slightly hitting, pulled the cover, sound went away.

I reduced the lifter noise by adding D&D 2>1

I just turned 600 miles and the drivetrain noise seemed to get noticeably louder this evening. It was warmer today so maybe that had something to do with it. It def has the sewing machine sound. was not as noticeable before.

They make noise. My 07 sounded like it was coming apart. Just ride it. Every engine that HD builds are not identical. I mean the have specs. + & - they go by. Some make more noise that others. Good Luck
