2005 Police Road King - The left bag vibrates/shakes quite a bit compared to the right side. I have check all mounts and grommets but still can't figure out what is causing the shake. Ride side is solid. Any thoughts?
i dont have any ideas for you but, the when i toke out my 06 SG the other day i noticed the same thing when it was on the jiffy stand. it looked liked it was bout to vibrate right off the bike. I did the same checked all the mounts and grommets, and just like you, nothing. who knows. hopefully someone on here has an idea!
I'm new to this. I pulled my seat off and had my buddy showing how to do my own maintenance and tricks. I went to bolt the bracket back on that holds the passenger strap and bag pin. He told me do not tighten it and to put the bag on, secure the pins then tighten the bolt for the bracket. he said this way you get correct placement. Made sense to me. I have had the bag off several times since and still tight. Maybe this lil info may help.
I have recently done what K above has just posted, and I figure third times going to be the charm. I figured they just don't need to line up but to do so with just a bit of downward pressure on the inside edge of the bag. I figure this should help seat the bottom of the bag on the rail better. I believe my left one is right on and the right needs to be done once more. Will find out this week and post my results

Reason: because I can
you have two half round rubber parts that are attached to the bottom of each bag and they sit on top of the round tube support under the bags. allow the bags to rest on those two rubber pieces and the tubing and work the bags forward or rear to get the pin holes to line up. allow everything to relax into shape so nothing is mounted in a bind. put your pins back in at the fender struts and you might just cure the problem. my 08 sg had that problem when i bought it new and after getting it home i tried it and it worked great. i've since had the bags off many times and no issues and i think it's because i figured out how they're mounted. allowing the mounting points to relax into position seemed to help a lot. check the position of those half round mounting rubber pads that are attached to the bottom of your bags. if they're stiff, replace them.

Listen to your buddy. He's right on with how to adjust the saddlebag brackets.
