I'm riding along listening to the CD player and suddenly, the music stops. I can click the speaker switch to another position and the music starts again. It happens at different intervals.
I was on my way to the dealer for Bike Night this past Wednesday and it happened. This time, when I would come to a stop, I could faintly hear the back speakers. The passenger volume control made no difference. The handlebar volume control would change the volume but it was still barely audible. I didn't mess with the switch cause I wanted the service dept to see what was happening.
The service guy set me up with an appointment for Tuesday to get it checked out. Has anybody had this happen and if so, what was the problem? Sounds like the switch but while I was there one guy said he'd heard of it and it might be a radio problem.
Well, they replaced the speaker switch but it's still doing the same thing. It doesn't matter if I'm on a bumpy road or a smooth road. It just cuts out and it won't come back on till I flip the switch back and forth. It does the same thing listening to the radio.
Mine does the same thing, goes off for no apparent reason then I have to click the switch back and forth to get it to work again.
Also the rear volume does not work any more.

I found a thread started by shortride about a week ago and there was some activity on that thread, so I'm gonna just follow that one since there's not much going on with this one. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...to_threadtools
Thanks for the input. This problem may be a lot more common than I thought.
I have the same problem, thought it was the hawg wired amp. Called Rob at Hawg wired he said he has seen this many times explained that when you use the rocker switch it resets something (I don't remember what part) and eventually it will get worse to the point that it will not work. He recommended I send it in to Iron Cross Audio.
I had that problem 2 years ago. Dealer tried to debug 3 times- multiple days in shop. They finally got permission to replace radio.
Now a year later it has started again. Dealer tech says it has to be my aftermarket J&M speakers. I wrote to J&M and John Lazeroni the OWNER of J&M wrote back and said speakers meet Harley specs. It is clearly Harley's problem.
I am not sure where I go next- I guess I bring it back to dealer? I wish we could specifically ID the fix for them.
