I ride a 07 Road Glide, I am getting a whine and clatter in 5th gear and sometimes in 6th. The gear ratio's are of course different than the 5 speeds. I find myself still wanting to shift like I am riding my old 5 speed. If I wait and shift into 5th around 55 MPH I get no noise, anything lower is when I get the clatter (sounds like bottom end noise to me). If I let the bike slow below 60 in 6th gear I start to get the same noise. I don't know but maybe it is just going to take some getting use to with the new 6 speed. I am nearing my 1000 mile service and planning on going to synthetic oil, maybe that will help a little also. Just my opinion though.
I'm half afraid to make this post as my luck might change. But, I'll give you my opinions. My wife and I decided to sell our VTX and move into a new Ultra. I've owned eight motorcycles and several Harleys so this was not a whim of the week event. We started with the 06 models last August and demoed several. Nice but hot, or so I thought. We couldn't get seem to get what we considered a fair deal on an 06 so we started looking at the "NEW 07". We visited several open houses and demoed many 07 Ultras and a few others..S.G, Electra ect.. I FOUND THEM ALL TO BE DIFFERENT AS FAR AS TRANSMISSIONS. Some sounded as if they were going to explode while others had little, if any noise, all in fifth gear. We were fortuate enough to find the deal we where looking for and I based our sale on driving the exact machine I would be buying. We drove it about 20 miles and found it to be one with a whine in fifth gear, just enough that I knew when I was in fifth. But, It ran Hotter than He**. The dealer convinced me they could reduce the heat issue. They put on a stage one kit , race tuner and Bassani true duals and dyno tuned it before we picked the bike up. A fan kit was on order.
The result is after 800 miles the bike is still hotter than I like, but the tranny issue is null. With the exhaust ( and I have the long core quiet baffles), I can't tell fifth gear from any other. THe bike runs great. I'm getting ready for the first check where I will change to synthetics and the fan kit is to be added which may cool things down a little more.
I live in an area where our (warm) riding season is about over, but if the bike continues running as it is, and the heat issue lessens, I'll continue to be happy.
My advice is drive the bike you plan to purchase. IMO they are all different. And I am glad (so far) that I purchased the 07 over an 06.
Don't know what you sisters have been riding but compared to my 05 Deluxe the 07 Street Glide is a dream. Much easier clutch pull, easier shifting and more power. Haven't noticed any strange noise. Of course the stereo is turned up and the stock mufflers have been drilled out. drilling out the mufflers required a SERT as it made the motor run leaner than stock. It's a blast. would sell two FLSTN's to get one FLHX. Anyone want an 05 Deluxe with 10 K on it?
AMEN P.S. why did the choices change ? there are more than when I voted SCRATCH THIS POST USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got mixed up..my bad. Point is, some people are actually looking for type of validation from this poll. Those people need to relax and realize it's just entertainment. I'm sure HD is keeping a "real" poll. Although I bet they are keeping it secret..
