MU85 has 2/32" more tread depth than other sizes accounting for increased mileage.

Just wanted to commend Dunlop on the MU85B16 (p/n: 0308-0001) rear tire that came with my Street Glide in February of this year.
I just passed 14.7K miles and still have about a thousand miles to go before new skins...like clockwork I put 15K miles on my bike every eight months, that works out to 90K miles every four years.
This is by far the most mileage I've ever gotten out of a rear tire.
Was thinking of going with the D404 (p/n: 0306-0005), it doesn't have the HD logo and is about 5 millimeters taller AND is $50.40 cheaper than the D402.
Anyone gettting the same results with the 404 as the 402?
Dunlap is on strike....have checked with a few tire dealers...and they don't have any available. Most say
4 to 8 weeks maybe, before they have more in stock.
Man... I only got 8500 miles on my 06 Ultra rear tire. I could have gotten may be 1000 more but we were riding to the Thunder Beach Rally and it was about a 10 hour ride, so i changed it.
I've got 8900 miles on the stock tire and everyone I talk to says that I'm lucky to get good service by now. The bike is starting to show handling problems. After really looking at the rear tire, I see why. Flat surface that used to have a nice symetrical rounding all around it. cornering or cupped roads are a constant wiggle/wander. Headed for another stock tire. I was very happy with it until around 7000 miles. then the handling problems showed up. I have a good friend and experienced rider that is happy if he can get 4000 miles out of a rear tire. We ride siimilar styles. Not rodding them but definitely working the tire most of the time. Heavy loads and long straights, of lighter loads and try to come home with sharpened floorboards. I think the heavier loads take the tole on wear the most. IMHO. Swapping the rear and brakes next week. Will let everyone know what the feel is. I suspect I'll be back to my sporty cruiser again. Is everyone getting about 2 rears to a single front tire life out of theirs? Doing Breaks at the same time as the rubber? Inquiring minds just want to know!
I just replaced my rear tire on 2006Ultra Classic for the second time. 16,280 miles on the rear and could have stretched it to 17,000. Ride two up 99.9% of the time withlots of super slab. Average about 22,000 miles per year. Original front should last till the third rear. Just replaced originalrear brake shoes since everything was apart.
