Ran my old RK for 106k with the original belt. It was punctured by a rock the first year of ownership, which I repaired with JB Weld and is still running today.
Mine just broke at 31000. Got off interstate and when i pulled away from stop sign it just revved up. Clean break, so had it towed to my indy and had 2 tires, brakes on both wheels and a new belt last November so should be good for til fall when rear tire and brakes will need to be replaced again.

I don't need tires or brakes, so it's just the belt for me. I'l find out in an hour or so how bad that's going to hurt me.
You can get 100k easily out of a belt, but if you're a hotrodder it's probably less. Or if it's just a misfortune to catch a rock or stick just right that will do it to you. Or if not adjusted properly that will shorten it's lifespan...
I got 3000 out of my 05 standard, I lived on a dirt road and where it broke it had a small puncture from a rock
I live on 2 miles of dirt road (bike is always a lil dusty at best - I hate that!), but so far been lucky and never had a rock get me. I used to worry about exactly that but now it's been years and never had a problem so far - knocking on wood!
43k so far and my '09 RK is still on the original belt. Wish me luck...
