The previous owner of my bike (88 flhtc) was a para and had a sidecar.Dealer records told me he did serv @ 2000 miles for all 49000 of the bike. i did get the SC and hated it but mileage wasnt too bad @ 30mpg. Reverse (actual gear) is very adviseable .
I ran a properly installed and adjusted Ultra Sidecar on an Ultra for a couple of years and loved it. I got really good at riding with the sidecar up in the air and could go for blocks like this. I finally got rid of it because I just wanted two wheels every now and then and it's too much trouble to remove it for just a weekend. Here are a couple of considerations thought:
Cons:
I averaged 25 mph with the sidecar
My rear tire life was pretty much cut in half
You really should practice riding before you go out on the road much. Right corners and ramps can be a little exciting until you get used to the car being there.
Pros:
It's Fun
People love talking to you about it
You can carry everything including the kitchen sink.

It's a pleasure! Buell is awaiting new tyres, so not really roadworthy at present. I have been working on the Glide for a while, but that is now roadworthy. Buell tyres next!
