Thats the difference.... put a helmet on and see what happens. Generally the bigger the helmet, the worse the turbulence.

Do the fork deflectors cause any problems with engine heat during the summer? I keep my lowers on during the summer and open the vents, but the deflectors look as though they cover the vents.

As I said above, with the fork deflectors I'm pretty miserable above 60°F (though I wear full leathers all the time). Doesn't matter that I open the fairing lowers vents or tip the upper fairing air deflectors as much as possible (they interfere with the fork deflectors, so cannot be tipped fully open).

I think I'll have to remove the fork deflectors during hot weather months. So I can either have teeth-rattling turbulence or roast. Guess that's what I like about my Road King; I don't have either one. 'Course I also don't have the stereo or any weather protection.

Davepa.... what is that big ol' screen you're running on your batwing? Did you find that it helped with the buffeting?

cookiemech..... Did the fork mounted air deflectors completely solve the helmet buffeting / teeth chattering problem?

I am also currently trying to decide between the versatility of the RK and the fairing of the SG.... I like the benefits of the fairing but I don't want any teeth chattering.

i have the exact same setup as you but without the lowers. i have zero windblast coming into the riding area, it's diverted to about an inch above my helmet with the same shield you have on your bike, the 10" long ride shield with the flip at the top. i'm tall and the windstream goes above my head altogether. i also have the side adjustable wings at the outer edge of the fairing along with the fork air baffle which bolts onto the lower triple tree. same setup as you have but i don't have the lowers. those lowers is the only difference from what i read in your statement, but i've never heard of them causing wind to rattle your face or chin.
