I posted this in the audio forum and didn't get any feedback so I thought I would post it here.
A couple weeks back I posed that the stock radio audio was cutting out on my '09 Ultra Classic while riding. When I flipped the 3-way speaker switch to another position the sound would come back. I've ridden all day sometimes without it messing up and other days the sound cuts out intermittently a few times. This morning the dealer replaced the 3-way speaker switch and the audio works find while sitting still but still cuts out when on the road.
This is one of those things you cant make it stop working while sitting still. You know that saying, "if it isnt broke we can't fix it" the dealer says.
Anyone have any ideas what may be causing the problem?
same problem on my 08 flhx.i spoke to iron cross in nj.they seem to think because my fairing brackets were broken.the circuit board in the radio is very fragile and may have cracked.they can rehab for approx 250.00.dealer wants like 349.00 +30 minutes labor.havent done it yet.i thought it was the tweeterpod install as well but recalled it happened last fall as well.good luck
Do you have an amp? It may be a bad ground connection, I have chased this same type of issue myself. Once was a bad ground for the amp, the second time it was the 3 way switch not fully engaged (I guess I bumped it while cleaning off the bike).
+1 on the CB. My radio was cutting out and i turned the cb off no more problems. I had no indications the cb was on i figured it out messing with settings. Hopefully its a simple fix for u.

No amp but I think I fixed the problem today. I decided to do some troubleshooting myself since my warranty has expired anyhow. I pulled the outer fairing off and started inspecting speaker connections. Sure enough a couple of the jumper wire to and from the Hogtune tweeters to the fairing speakers were very loose. One of them was barely plugged in the other one was all of the way plugged in but the connection was very loose and took no effort to pull apart. I don't like those type of connector anyhow.
I went for a long ride and not one time did the audio cut out. I hope that fixed it.
