I put a Gunfighter on my wifes 1200c to get her a little closer to the ground. That was almost 40,000 miles ago and she still hates it. But likes being flat footed at the stop lights
Do not expect it to break in all cushy like the POS HD seats, it won't. If you have too much pressure on your *** because your thighs don't share the load, you will never like it. You know, like the guys who have their hwy pegs so high it looks like they are in a OBGYN chair.
I never had a Corbin on a Harley. I had one on a K 75 Beemer. 30,000 miles and it was still hard as a rock and a pain. Had another on a Dakar and it was perfect. So I guess it depends on if it fits your butt. No fit, no break in, ever.
Had a '88 FLHTP with the air ride solo seat. That was the best seat Harley ever made. I now have a '11 FLHTC and the stock seat sucks. At around 500 bucks a pop I may have to get used to it.
The Corbin seat is a very different breed of seat. I am on my; third HD and have had a Corbin on all three - first was a stock - reach seat- second and third were custom made at the corbin Factory in Ca.
You could spend a $1000 on a new suit and if the suit did not fit you - waste of money, NOT because it was a bad suit - because it did NOT fit YOU.
I know you on on the east coast but here is what is BEST done with a Corbin...
Corbin will work with you to make it right - this can be done through UPS but it takes time and money for shipping..
What Corbin offers and it cost NO More that just buying the seat... You make a ride in appoitment and YOU and your bike show up at the factory ato 0800 - you meet with the builder and you two talk about you - your bike - your passanger and what you are looking for. I am a short rider, so this Really helped me
Then the builder starts on your new seat - all through the day - he works - puts the seat on your bike - you go for a test ride - come back and tweak/work the seat UNTIL YOU say "Thats perfect" then off you go.
On each of my corbins - I never really needed a break in period. On this current bike, I have right at 60K and its an 04 FLHTCI - I have been coast to coast twice - all through the western states and I can ride 300+ miles a day for weeks on end. I love them, However, if you search 'Corbin' you will find
Love them ---- Hate them.
good luck - I would suggest you call Corbin in CA and see what can be done - its worth a phone call
Unless something has changed, they don't do the custom fitting at their Ormond Beach location. Last time I was there, it was just a showroom/warehouse.

Your right, I was over there last Wednesday. They just ask you some questions about your height, weight, etc. 3 to 4 week lead time right now I was told for a custom.
