Hello fellow apple scrubs. How many of us have replaced the quick disconnect pins for the 'ol nut and bolt on the soft/hard bags? I could not be at ease just thinking someone walking by and taking off with my soft bags. They are so easy to access and remove. Granted, they can still steal the bags, but it will take them 15 to 20 minutes than just the 2 minutes to quick disconnect.
I just got my order from Brukus.com He is one of the supporter. Very easy to install and it makes me feel that my Hard Saddle Bag will never fly while riding on the freeway. My friend's saddle bag flew last week and I research the hdforum site and found out about it and order it. Very simple. Its not a quick disconnect anymore but it takes around 5minutes to remove with the special key and it very safe from burglar that are trying to make a quick bucks. Again Thanks
Put mine on with a cleves pin and washer and a washer and hood pins on the inside quick for me nothing for them to even get a hold of. Haaaa Haaaa HaaaaHaaaa 2 bucks total!

Sickbagger I'm not totally familiar with what you described that you did. Any chance you could share some pics and suggestions on where to get the stuff?
We were preparing for our display at the South Texas Biker Jam next weekend and decided to see how easy it is to get the bags off. I was amazed. So we made up a short, quick video to show. My first try, I used a screw driver and it took me about 30-45 seconds on the one pin. And I broke the pin and clasp. I then tried it with long nose pliers and it took me 6 seconds. The video shows me on my 3rd try - again 6 seconds of actual removing the bag at one connection point. Multiply that by 4 and you have both bags off in 24 seconds.
And shortly thereafter had this comment: thank you for showing me how they do that. I was un aware of this even being an issue until my bags were stolen in front of a resturant last saturday. I talked with my group of motorcycle friends about 10 and none of them knew either. Brand new bags cost me $1300. I wish the dealer where I bought my bike would have told me that this was going on or that it was an issue. PS dont let your wife leave her purse in bags ever or house keys or car keys. it really sucks. getting brukus kit now. thanks
something else to think about: A few weeks ago I was on a ride when a guy LOST his saddlebag! The pins worked themselves lose and it bag fell off in the middle of the street. A guy following tried to kick it out of the way of other bikes behind him, but it didn't go too far.
Funniest part was that he kicked it into the path of an oncoming police car, who hit it and destroyed it completely! Well, it wasn't funny to the original owner, but it definately was one of those moments you had to be there for!
