I'm From Chattanooga. I would ride through as much of the Eastern Part of the State as Possible it's beautiful. Go through Reliance Tennessee it's cheaper than the Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge plenty of twisties and georgeous scenery.
http://www.lostcreekcabins.com/1/index.htm There is a place to stay if needed. If you Make it to Chattanooga You have to Eat at Bea's Restaurant. It's in a dumpy part of town but is amazing Southern Food.

Oh and if you simply must stay in the Smoky Mountain National Park Get Lodging in the cities of Townsend or Seveirville it will save you a king's ransom.

Enjoy the trip!
I used to live up in Soddy Daisy. They ever fix the damn roads down by thunder creek where the VW plant was going? That **** was wicked scary on a bike.
Draggon is fun during the week, weekend too many nut cases. TN route 421 from I-81 to Mountain City, TN. Lots of turns and not a well known feature. You can grab RT 58 or 26 from there and head over to Bristol, nice town. Chimney Rock SP, and South Holston Lake along RT 421. Way fun ride and nice park to visit.
The Cades Cove area of the Smoky Mountains National Park is beautiful, great riding, and memorable for the great history and scenery. Did a bike trip to TN last summer. Enjoyed it very much.
Not only do you want to avoid Dollywood...but stay away at least 30 miles. We rode thru there (by mistake) and were trapped. Its nothing but traffic lights and road traffic for mile after mile. To top things off my wife left her purse in a subway shop...that was just a day to remember!!!!!!
There is a new area to ride in the corner of Tn Ga and NC. It's called the Gauntlet. Suppose to be an alternative to the Dragon. Haven't been there myself but should be on the web. If you get down into N Ga check out the Lodge at Copperhead. First class place.
