Pisses me off when you think you have a limited production machine then they do this kind of crap.

Y'all do realize that the only thing that was "limited" about the FLKTK was how many they could sell, right? It was never intended as an actual limited production run.

A guy I ride with just bought a new Merlot Streetglide with the 103 motor and abs. My 88 with cams (andrews 26) SE pro tuner, stage 1 intake and slip ons still takes him. I have 95 inch cylinders and pistons waiting here and just picked up some of the newer 96 heads for just over 180 bucks. Going to use 30 thousands head gaskets to up the compression a tad for the cams.

Getting upset because H-D is going to make the 103 standard is kind of sensless. The 103 is not that big of an upgrade in the firstplace.

I thought about the liimiteds because of the paint scheme and other odds and ends that they installed from the factory the paint was the biggest since you could not get that option on the non limited models.

Harley has to do something about their motors. If they don't start making standard models with some actual power then they are going to start loosing some ground against the competition.

As far as resale goes, that is a mute point unless you are going with the CVO models. They still depreciate like the rest it is just that you pay alot more new then the rest. Meaning, you are still going to loose money over time (limited or not) like the rest of the motorcycle world. If you financed it then the min you drove it off the lot, you owned more on it then it is worth and it will stay that way for a few years until it is almost paid off.
this is why I always buy used and never buy anything new. I am not buried financially in my bike. It is still worth close to what I currently owe on it.

But right now the new 012s don't impress me enough to run out and plop down cash on one. I can save money by just getting mine custom painted and adding a few small odds and ends and it will look just as good as a new one while sitting at a rest area along the highway.

Would not hurt my feelings if they dropped al the denim colors. They look like unfinished paint jobs. When I was shopping for a bike the local H-D dealer had a denim streetglide carry over, he would have almost gave it to me just to get rid of it. I told him to get the paint job finished on it and I would think about it. Ended up buying a used 05 with almost 30K for almost the same money he was offering me to get that new carry over streetglide. I wonder who he suckered into buying the unfinished bike???

You are correct.....They weren't limited, badging them as a limited simply meant you got more than a Ultra......Just like alot of cage Manufactures have Limiteds in there line up....its simply a package

Hmmm... 2010(?) SG for the same price as 05 with 30k miles? I'm really wondering who got suckered? "All the denim one needs is glossy clearcoat. Problem solved." Paint is cheap.....

Thought the same thing. The 103 is a great motor. HD puts it in the Police bikes standard for a reason. Automatic compression release, oil cooler, more low end torque and very reliable. Paint tin change is cheap and easy to do. Buy an older bike with older frame design, engine, transmission and technolgy is silly for about the same money.

But people with the older models will have the special "LIMITED" badge.. Where they won't have the "special badge" on the newer model. Sort of like the "Anniversary" models..

That's about it. Harley never advertised the Limited as a limited production bike.
