Got a question that relates....How about wiring? I've got a 93 Electraglide, but it's got pretty much basic wiring (no relays) that works the brake/stop/turn signals. Any issues with increasing the load on the system?

As for wiring I used a Hoppy convetor. I have the part # and home and can get it tonight if you need it. There is no problem with excessive load with just the basic trailer lights. Here is a link that has tons of info.

Hey folks, let me join in on your trailer chat. I have been pulling a trailer for 4 years and wouldn't ever be without one on a trip. The benefits far outweigh the small disadvantages. The only disadvantages are that you will get a little bit of push while braking, but minor and you may drop a gear when pulling out to pass when you wouldn't if you wern't towing. I find NO handicap on turns at an itersection or in a parking lot. You can lay it down till your floorboards scrape....no prob. If you are in a group, you may choose to ride at the back because some guys don't like riding with the back of a trailer near their front wheel. My trailer pulls like a dream with no surge or sway. You don't even know it is there. You need to select one with some aerodynamics. Mine is teardrop shaped. If it is square or boxy at the front, you can get a backdraft causing your exhast to linger around you causing undesirable results to your navigational skills. Your trailer should not exceed 450lbs loaded or your push will be to much. My trailer weighs 150lbs empty. You don't want a basic leaf spring trailer with a straight axle. Sure it is cheap and all to build, but you have no caster in the wheels causing more shock through the trailer and possibly into the bike. If the spindle is offset, mounted in a rubber bushing, it becomes independant and the negative caster sucks up the bumps.
This is my first reply in your forum....I hope I didn't go on too long.

I guess I should mention the name of my trailer. It is a Voyager made by Fibro Concept in Quebec.
I will post some pics of mine later. You can check their web page.

I looked at your links and I like the time out because of the a/c option because we live in Florida.
I will have to look for a link I had for another brand.

I built my own trailer. I have put about 5K on it in the two years it has been done. I use it primarly for long trips of a week or more. I used a Northern Tool equivlent of the Harbor fright version. I had my BIL build the box that is on it out of shiny aluminum diamond plate. I also repainted the red frame to match the silver in my bike. I am very happy with it. There is a trailer forum that is on the delphi host called http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTrailertowing/start
I replaced the original lights with LED's from Napa Auto parts because the vibration of going down the highway tends to cause the tail/stop lights to wear to the point of not working.

One like this came with my bike except that it doesn't have the luggage rack or spoiler. Pulls nice.

Tom Fitch of http://tailwindtrailers.com/tom.htm makes some excellent trailers. Some say they rival, or beat Bushtec. I don't know for sure.
The cost is equavilant tho. Those trailers have some features that Bushtec doesn't have. Altho it's always a personal choice.
Piggybacks are cheap and easy to pull, but the old saying goes.......

you get what ya pay for.

Elk grove Village IL and Des Plains IL have manufactures that make tow behind campers for bikes.
